SafeGuard is a sensor-driven mobile application that enhances personal safety by letting individuals raise an emergency alert instantly and share their live location with trusted contacts. Developed in response to the rise in violent incidents and missing person cases across Malaysia, the app leverages the smartphone’s accelerometer to detect sudden movements or distress signals, so a simple shake fires an SOS that automatically streams GPS coordinates to pre-selected contacts for real-time tracking and assistance.
The app’s overarching goal is to facilitate quick access to emergency help in situations where traditional communication methods may be ineffective or inaccessible. Continuous location sharing, hands-free activation and a customisable contact list form a low-effort yet comprehensive safety net. Built with Flutter and tailored to the Malaysian context, SafeGuard aims to offer a reliable, privacy-conscious tool that shortens emergency response times and empowers individuals with greater control over their security.
