Title:
DEVELOPMENT OF AUTO SORTING DUSTBIN THE FUTURE OF SMART AND SUSTAINABLE WASTE DISPOSAL

The "Auto Sorting Dustbin" is an innovative waste management system that will automatically sort and segregate metallic and non-metallic garbage using Arduino Nano and IoT technology . The project uses a "metal sensor" to detect metal items, an "ultrasonic sensor" to monitor waste levels, and a "DC motor" and "motor driver" to facilitate precise bin rotation for sorting. A "magnet contact switch" ensures alignment of the bin, and a "buzzer" provides auditory alerts for metal detection or bin overfill. An LCD I2C display" provides current indication of waste type and bin fill level. This intelligent system sorts out waste with higher recycling rates, reduces manual sorting, and promotes eco-friendly disposal of waste.

The prototype is seen to be performing consistently in sorting out and separating waste, constituting a feasible solution for smart environments. By reducing manual effort and enhancing the precision of separating waste, the Auto Sorting Dustbin is enabling improved waste management and supporting environmental sustainability. The low production cost (estimates RM218), simple assembly and minimal energy requirement make it suitable for homes, schools, offices, and public spaces. Moreover, it offers and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional method. The devise has strong market potential in the healthcare sector, industrial automation and smart home , thanks to its precision and cost-effectiveness.
